Attorney Nevada M. Smith Selected to Super Lawyers® in Missouri and Kansas
At Smith Law Offices, LLC, we’d like to extend a special congratulations to our very own Attorney Nevada M. Smith. Nevada has once again been listed by Super Lawyers® for his work in family law in Missouri. His appearance on the 2019 edition marks the 4th time he has been recognized by Super Lawyers®. In 2015, he was selected to Rising Stars, a distinction enjoyed by only 2.5% of attorneys who are 40 years old or younger or who have been in practice for 10 years or less. In 2016, Nevada was named to Super Lawyers® proper, an honor which he reprised in 2017 and again this year. No more than 5% of attorneys are recognized by Super Lawyers® each year.
The Selection Process
To be chosen for Super Lawyers®, attorneys must attain a high degree of both peer recognition and professional achievement. They are evaluated via a patented selection process, which includes nominations, independent research, and peer review.
First, attorneys must be identified by the Super Lawyers Research Team or nominated by their peers or managing partners. Then, they must achieve a certain number of points through the 12 indicators of professional achievement and peer recognition.
The indicators are as follows:
- Verdicts and settlements
- Transactions
- Position within law firm
- Bar or professional activity
- Representative clients
- Experience
- Honors and awards
- Scholarly lectures and writings
- Special licenses and certifications
- Pro bono and community service
- Education and employment background
- Other outstanding achievements
Each indicator is weighted differently, but lawyers who gather enough points move onto the peer evaluation stage, where they are considered by a Blue Ribbon Panel of other top attorneys.
Finally, legal professionals make it to the final selection phase where they are awarded recognition by either Rising Stars or Super Lawyers®.
Again, only 5% of attorneys are named to Super Lawyers® and 2.5% are selected to Rising Stars.

Attorney Nevada M. Smith has been practicing in Missouri since 2004. He has a Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Law and is extremely active within the St. Charles County Bar Association. When he is not representing our clients in family law, immigration, or criminal matters, he spends his time speaking at classes and donating pro bono services to the Volunteer Lawyers Program. In addition to his status as a Super Lawyers® honoree, Nevada holds 3 Client Distinction Awards from Martindale-Hubbell®.
